fnder 6 – The Bridge of Light

Book

It all started with two friends bumping into each other in Berlin’s Nikolaiviertel in the year of 2006. But it was photography which brought us together the first time in New York more than ten years previous – in 1995 Thomas was a student at Photography School in Vevey (Switzerland), doing an internship in New York. Todd was, and still is, a NY-based photographer born in Detroit. At that time Todd started his project about the re-emergence of Jewish life in Germany which brought him regularly to Germany.
But back to Berlin and the year of 2006: Todd came up with the idea of offering a street photography workshop to the students of the school where Thomas was teaching, Berliner Technische Kunsthochschule (BTK), now known as the University of Applied Sciences Europe. Thomas presented the idea to Matthias Leupold, who was the chairman of BTK, and who was immediately enthusiastic about the project. He supported the idea and just a year later, in 2007, the first group of students left Berlin and was received by Todd in New York to attend the first BTK Street Photography Workshop. This was the start of a long tradition celebrating its 13th anniversary this year.
